How to Make Your Blog A Success!

If you frequently stop here at Blogging - What's in it for me? you surely know that I am a firm believer in getting involved with forums. It's amazing what you can come across especially in terms of FREE information. I'm talking about information you can find in lots of e-books on how to make internet money or how to make money blogging.

Well, I came across such a post written by KeithLDick, a member of the Digital Point Forum and I thought it would be very informative for those of you new to blogging who are just learning the ropes on how to promote your blog and even how to make money blogging. You will read information on where to ping your blog, how to monetize it, how to keep track of your visitors and more.

The question asked was how to attract traffic to your blog and some suggested adding your blog url to the signature line in forums you participate in, also pinging your blog and more, and KeithLDick said this (I added all the bold formatting):

If you hope to get a load of returning visitors, you have to keep updating it with new things that make people want to keep going, and it's gotta look good. The better looking, the more people want to be affiliated with it. Also, make friends, and share links. Join web rings, give the links to your friends who are interested, and an interactive element like a message board, or such, will (if handled correctly) keep people coming back.

1. Link to other pages, and have them link to you.

2. Use relevant META tags for keywords and description

3. Announce your website in many online forums (if Allowed or in your Signature File). Many sites frown on Posting about Personal Sites.

4. Register your url with google and as many other search engines as possible.

5. Update your site often to have repeat visistors.

6. Add your url in your email signature.

7. Do a search on google, then at the bottom of the page is "Disatisfied with results? Help us improve" link. Just fill out the info. and the spiders will go to your site.

8. Add your url to your business card and pass them out.
